Aloha Owners,
Neoma just reminded me that with a new year comes a new reservation form. 😊 It really helps the reservation desk if we use the reservation form. The new form is in a pdf version under "Pages". If you prefer a doc version let me know. I am happy to email doc versions to anyone that prefers it.
Aloha,
Denise

Aloha! We have been getting inquiries about the status of repaving Kōloa and Maluhia roads on our south side, particularly with potholes popping up due to the recent spurt of wet weather, and we wanted to offer some useful information regarding the County’s plans.
We have already received construction bids for these projects, and we are slated to begin construction this calendar year. Both roads projects, which will cost approximately $18 million, will be supported by Federal Highway funds.
For Kōloa Road, there will be sections of reconstruction of the roadway, widening of shoulders and installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Kōloa and Ala Kalanikaumaka, and finally resurfacing of this road.
For Maluhia Road, there will also be deep reconstruction of sections of the road, drainage improvements of the shoulders through the tree tunnel section, and finally resurfacing of the road.
At a public meeting held in June 2019, the Department of Public Works stated the construction of Kōloa Road will begin in early 2020. Our current update anticipates construction to begin in April/May 2020.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we will be providing announcements on the construction schedule as details are confirmed. Here is the link to the public meeting with more information:
In the meantime, the County’s Roads Division has been actively responding to temporarily fill pot holes reported on Kōloa and Maluhia roads. Between Dec. 26 and Dec. 31, the County’s Roads Division filled approximately 100 pot holes on both of these roads. Additional material is needed to address other areas being reported, but our Roads Division is working as diligently as possible while continuing to face challenges with rainy weather.
We hope this helps to provide some insight on the County’s plans for Kōloa and Maluhia roads. We thank the public for their understanding as the County continues to address their concerns as best and quickly as possible.

Castle Newsletter December 2019
Aloha Owners,
Happy New Year! Dropbox has changed its way to upload documents so I now have to blog documents as a jpg. I am sorry as I know that these are not as easy to read. I will work on trying to get a better way to blog.
Aloha,
Denise
