United Air to Offer $250 Coronavirus Tests on Flights to Hawaii

by Justin Bachman

United Airlines Holdings Inc. will offer on-the-spot coronavirus testing to customers flying to Hawaii who are willing to pay $250 to avoid a two-week quarantine on arrival. The carrier hopes the testing regimen can be expanded to help pave the way toward reigniting international travel, which collapsed during the pandemic because of customers’ fears of catching the virus, and restrictions required by many countries for arriving visitors.

Regarding Safe Travel App

Aloha Valued Travel Partners:

REGARDING:  SAFE TRAVELS APP
                         Effective:  September 1, 2020

John Monahan, President and CEO of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, requested that we share the following information on the State’s new Safe Travels online application with our valued travel partners.

Effective tomorrow, September 1, 2020, all Hawaii travelers will be required to complete an online Safe Travels application. The new digital application collects health and travel information and is critical to protecting the health of residents and visitors alike. Safe Travels is one part of a multi-layered screening process, which also includes arrival temperature checks, and secondary screening for those with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. The application can be found at https://travel.hawaii.gov.

This digital app will allow travelers to provide their required health and travel information before they arrive at the airport and will also help the State of Hawaii keep in contact with those who are required to be in quarantine. This is an important step in preparing to reopen the State’s economy.

More information on the Safe Travels program can be found:  https://ets.hawaii.gov/new-online-safe-travels-application-mandatory-on-sept-1/.
