Due to unforeseen circumstances involving equipment malfunction with the paving company the dates for the Parking Lot Resurfacing have been revised.
See the attached Aloha Gram which is being distributed to all rooms this afternoon by the AOBO maintenance for updated map colors, closures dates and times.
 
Please distribute this to any new guests upon check-in.
 
If you have any further questions please contact myself or Dennis Bonilla (ext. 3537) in the Engineering Department.

·         Parking lot repairs and seal coat project began today, Monday 8/26/19 and will continue through Tuesday 9/3/19. The first portion of the project consists of cutting and patching damaged asphalt, this work will entail a few people and a few machines working in isolated areas one patch at a time. During this period, the parking lot will be open with occasional short traffic stops.
 
·         The second phase of the project will consist of sealing the asphalt and painting the parking stall lines. During the second phase of the project, portions of the parking lot will need to be closed to allow the sealer and painted stalls to dry.
 
Attached is a map of the parking lot, the map is color coded (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue). Each color represents an area of the parking lot that will be closed for a day. The list on the right side of the map indicates the days each area will be closed. Each parking lot area will be closed for approximately 24 hours, the hours of closure will be from 5PM to 5PM the following day.
 
1)      8/28/19, Wednesday, 5PM thru Thursday, 8/29/19, 5PMRED – First Parking Lot Closure. East entrance will have the East lane open for traffic to the Koa Kea and Waioha’i
2)      8/29/19, Thursday, 5PM thru Friday, 8/30/19, 5PMYELLOW – Second Parking Lot Closure. East entrance will have the west lane open for traffic to the Koa Kea and Waioha’i
3)      8/30/19, Friday, 5PM thru Saturday, 8/31/19, 5PMGREEN - Fourth parking lot closure.
4)      9/2/19, Monday, 5PM thru Tuesday, 9/3/19, 5PM BLUE - Third parking lot closure. 
a.      9/3/19 Tuesday, 7AM 5PM Main entrance will be closed, use East entrance only.
 
If your vehicle is parked in a section scheduled to be closed, please move  your vehicle to another parking zone, a shuttle will be on call and patrolling the areas surrounding the closed off portions to assist guest with transports. Guests parked in the areas scheduled for closure that evening will be asked to move their vehicles to another parking lot so work can begin on time the following day.

Slurry Coating 8/26 - 8/31

It is that time again.  Starting on Monday the parking lots will be slurry coated.   Please see the map below.   The contractor will be grinding and patching all of the areas in the parking lot on Monday and Tuesday (8-26 and 8-27), this will consist of a machine and a few men working in an  isolated location.  They will begin the slurry coat Wednesday morning 8-28 and complete the last colored area on Saturday 8-31.   Dennis is meeting with the contractor today (Friday) to determine where they will start.   Once it is determined the starting point and the sequence of events, Dennis will send out a notice to all of the rental agents and the rental agents  will distributing the Alohagrams to guests.

4)      The fourth closure (Pink) will begin Friday afternoon 8-30-19  at 5 PM and will end Saturday afternoon 8-31-19 at 5 PM.

Please notify your guest of the parking lot closures, a shuttle will be on call and patrolling the areas surrounding the closed off areas to assist guest with long transports. Guests parked in the area’s scheduled for closure that evening will be asked to move their vehicles to another parking lot so work can begin on time the following day. Alohagrams will be distributed beginning Monday.

✈✈✈SOUTHWEST Airlines January 2020!!!✈✈✈

WOW!  So much Southwest  news out there. 
Dave Schindele sent me an article early Thursday regarding Southwest Airlines and then Susy Muscatell emailed me to let me know that Southwest is flying to Kauai in January of 2020!   I also then received Lynda Gill's blog which says the same thing!  So it has to be true!    Check out Southwest's website, the 1st link!    The 2nd link below is to the article that Dave sent, the 3rd link is to article that Roy forwarded early Friday morning.
